This carpet works a Persian-inflected design through the more democratic vocabulary of hand-tufting. The pattern carries the medallion-and-field architecture that governed the workshops of Tabriz and Kashan, scaled and softened for a contemporary room. A piled descendant of a long lineage, made at a price the original tradition has never been available at.
2 tufters and 1 finisher worked the rug on a stretched cotton canvas in India over five weeks. Wool was tufted in by hand-held gun row by row, then sealed with natural latex and a cotton scrim backing. A final hand-shearing pass evens the pile and brings the sage field into relief above the border.
The composition
A sage field carried with enough tonal variation that no two square feet of the rug read the same way. The geometry is set up so the eye moves across the surface rather than locking onto a single centre. Wool takes dye unevenly by design, and the resulting irregularities are the point of weaving the rug by hand instead of printing it. The composition rewards both the across-the-room glance and the close-range second look.
The piece in a room
5' x 8' (5' x 8' (152 x 244 cm)) is the canonical living-room rug for a flat. It sits comfortably under a six-seater dining table, anchors a three-piece sofa arrangement, or holds the floor of a primary bedroom from the foot of the bed outward. The sage ground holds against both light and dark walls and pairs with mid-tone wood floors.
Care
Use a vacuum on suction only. Blot spills, do not rub. Light shedding is normal for the first month and a half as the loose surface fibres work themselves out; the body of the pile is unaffected. A professional dry-clean every two to three years keeps the latex backing supple and the pile colour true. A pad underneath the rug protects both the latex and the floor below.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
