A scroll rug works as a quiet anchor. No competing focal points, no busy borders, just a considered field that gives the room its ground without asking for the eye. The discipline is in the editing; many of the strongest tufted designs are the ones the studio kept simple when the temptation to add was strong.
Two tufters worked the design over about four weeks, with a finisher cutting and trimming the surface by hand at the end. The wool is pushed through canvas row by row from the back of the work, then sheared from the front to set the pile depth. The scrim and latex on the underside hold the structure.
The composition
A red ground holds the rug. The scroll drawing sits inside it without forcing contrast, so the geometry registers as part of the field rather than printed on top. The colour will warm slightly with use, the way wool always does, and the pattern will read more clearly as the surface settles. Sunlight falling across the rug brings out the secondary tones, and evening lamp light pushes the warmer values forward.
The piece in a room
A 5' x 8' (152 × 244 cm) rug works as the centre of a small living grouping, under a queen bed, or in a dining nook for four to six. The red palette gives the room its ground without claiming the focal position. The rug behaves as the architectural plane the furniture floats on, which is the proper job of a rug at this scale; the eye should land on the seating or the art, not on the floor itself.
Care
Suction vacuum weekly. Blot spills with cool water and a clean cloth. Light shedding settles inside two months and does not affect the body of the rug. A professional dry clean every two to three years keeps the wool fresh and the latex backing sound. Use an underlay sized to the rug to prevent slipping and to extend the life of the backing.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
