The Blaine borrows from the Bidjar weaving tradition, where dense knot counts and a tight, beaten-down pile produced the most durable rugs ever to come out of western Persia. Rust and soft green carry that lineage into a field meant to be lived on rather than admired from the side of a room. The pattern uses a central diamond medallion in light green against a rust ground, with serrated edges that show the weaver thinking through the design row by row. The corners hold quartered medallions in matching green, and the field between them fills with stylised botehs and small floral nodes drawn loose enough to read as folk art rather than court formal.

Three weavers shared the loom in India for around five months. Roughly 1.6 million asymmetric knots, hand-tied on a cotton warp and beaten down with a steel comb that gives Bidjar-style rugs their characteristic stiffness and weight. The wool is pure yarn-dyed and luster washed at the end of weaving so the colours arrive at the mellow saturation of an antique without the long wait.

The composition

Rust grounds in this tradition mature differently from synthetic reds. Over a decade the rust will soften into terracotta in high-traffic areas and hold its depth at the borders, producing the natural shading collectors call abrash. The light green of the medallion picks up the cool corners of the room and dampens the heat of the rust without pulling against it. Wool spun in this density absorbs sound, dampens footfall, and ages in the same direction as walnut floors and aged leather.
