Three weavers shared the loom for around seven months in India. The base is hand-knotted wool through cotton warp, with silk highlights laid into selected motifs. About 1.7 million knots were tied across the surface area. After weaving, the rug passed through the oxidising bath, which dropped the original colour saturation by roughly a third and unified the multi-colour palette into the soft register collectors prefer for contemporary interiors.

The composition

A muted ivory ground carries an all-over floral repeat in soft rose, pale sage, faded indigo, dusty terracotta, and tea-coloured silk highlights. The palette would have read as bright if untreated; the oxidye finish has pulled it into a single soft register where each colour holds its position without competing. The pattern is dense at the scale of the surface and quiet at the scale of the room. Over time the ivory ground warms and the silk highlights deepen.
