Complete your setup
The composition is built around the overdyed colour wash. Everything else in the rug works in service of it. The palette of blue sits inside that geometry without competing with it, the way a quiet ground holds a strong figure in a print.
The piece was hand-knotted in India over 3 months by 2 weavers. Wool pile, cotton foundation, hand-spun yarn dyed in small batches and lowered into vats one skein at a time. The finishing was done by hand with long shears so the relief between figure and ground reads clearly across the room.
The composition
The overdyed colour wash runs across a blue field. The single-tone composition lets the geometry do the work, and the wool's natural variation carries the eye. The colour will deepen by a half-tone over the first decade as the pile settles and the wool's natural lanolin works through the surface.
What you are buying
A hand-knotted wool piece at this price is unusual in the trade and represents the workshop's direct-to-buyer position. Equivalent rugs in Western retail run at twice or three times this figure. The piece holds its character through years of use rather than wearing out.
The piece in a room
At 4' x 6' (122 x 183 cm) the rug holds a reading chair and ottoman, or sits at the foot of a primary bed. The palette is warm enough to settle into the architecture and graphic enough to remain the still point of the room. It pairs well with walnut, oak, brass, leather, and unbleached linen. Strongly patterned upholstery is the one combination to avoid; the rug is the graphic event.
Conservation
Rotate one hundred and eighty degrees twice a year so light and foot traffic age the rug evenly. Vacuum on suction only with the beater bar disengaged. Blot spills with a clean cotton cloth, working from the outside of the spill in. A hand-wash by a wool-trained conservator every five to seven years keeps the dye depth alive. With this care the rug runs eight decades and outlasts its first owners.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
