The aged wool absorbed the green at varying intensities depending on the under-drawing, producing a confident dark field with the architectural pattern of the original carpet visible as a soft chromatic ghost beneath the new wash.

The composition

A deep forest green across the entire field, lifted slightly where the under-drawing rose ivory and pulled darker where the original colour was already strong. The original Ziegler vine and palmette pattern surfaces beneath the dye as a near-black ghost, present but never assertive against the new green. The whole reads as one architectural ground at distance and as a layered textile event up close. Surface variation in the hand-spun wool keeps the green alive under interior light at every angle.
