Persian floral compositions in a soft palette have anchored European drawing rooms since the late nineteenth century, when collectors began to prefer ivory grounds over the deep madder reds of an earlier generation. The Norwich design pulls from that softer tradition, with a light green field and an ivory border that lets the floral drawing breathe rather than crowding it. Tufted construction lets the studio hold a fine line in the floral work without the multi-month commitment of a knotted version.
This 10' x 14' (305 x 427 cm) piece was hand-tufted in India over roughly seven weeks. Two tufters worked the wool through a stretched cotton canvas, pushing the yarn one row at a time with a tufting gun while a finisher prepared the latex bond and cotton scrim on the back. The final pass was done by hand with long shears to relieve the floral drawing above the open ground by about two millimetres of pile depth.
The composition
A pale green field, ivory border, floral vines drawn in muted rose and soft brown. The relief between the cut motifs and the ground gives the rug a low-relief sculptural quality at this scale. The wool is undyed New Zealand fibre in the highlight passages, which means the ivory deepens slowly into a warm bone tone over a decade rather than yellowing.
The piece in a room
10' x 14' (305 x 427 cm) is a generous drawing-room or formal dining scale. A ten-seat dining table sits with margin on every side; a full sectional sofa anchors above the rug rather than pinning its edges. The soft green pairs with mid-tone walls in plaster, with walnut and oak floors, with curved upholstery in linen. Avoid placing the rug under direct hot sunlight for hours; the ivory ground keeps its colour better in indirect light.
Care
Vacuum weekly with the beater bar disengaged. Every tufted rug loses some loose fibre during the first month or two; this is the binder settling and does not affect density. Blot spills immediately with a clean cotton cloth, never rub the pile. Professional dry clean every three years, or sooner in a high-traffic dining setting.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
