An open geometric field in muted neutrals is the working palette of the contemporary interior. The pattern lays a considered ground without claiming the room, which is the property a rug needs in a space that already carries patterned upholstery, considered art, or strong architecture. The drawing here works in the modern manner without quoting any specific designer.
Black runs the carrying weight, with the secondary tones held in the same family rather than set in contrast. The result is a rug that supports rather than competes.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene yarn, woven on a jacquard loom in Turkey. The colour is locked into the fibre by temperature rather than applied as a surface dye, which is why the saturation does not fade under direct sunlight the way pigment-printed colour fades. The pile resists staining at the molecular level, recovers from furniture compression, and does not shed. The rug is built to take routine domestic traffic without distress and to hold its drawing through repeated cleaning. For households with children, with pets, or with the casual spill habits of an everyday living room, this construction does the work the wool tier cannot.
The composition
The working palette is black against neutral ground. The pattern resolves at room scale and rewards approach with detail in the drawing. The yarn was engineered for colour stability under direct light, which matters for a rug that lives where the windows are.
The piece in a room
5' × 8' (152 × 244 cm) is the working scale for an accent zone. A reading chair and a side table, the foot of a queen bed, a console-and-mirror entry composition, or a defined corner of a larger living room. The black ground holds against pale walls and gathers around itself in the evening when the lighting drops. Pair with a single piece of upholstered furniture sitting half on, half off the rug, rather than trying to enclose a full grouping.
Care
Vacuum once a week. For spills, blot with a clean cloth and a small amount of mild detergent if needed, then dry. The fibre is colourfast under direct sunlight and recovers from compression after furniture is moved. No specialist cleaning required.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
