A medallion rug works as a quiet anchor. No competing focal points, no busy borders, just a considered field that gives the room its ground without asking for the eye. The discipline is in the editing; many of the strongest tufted designs are the ones the studio kept simple when the temptation to add was strong.
Two tufters worked the design over five to six weeks, with a finisher cutting and trimming the surface by hand at the end. The wool is pushed through canvas row by row from the back of the work, then sheared from the front to set the pile depth. The scrim and latex on the underside hold the structure.
The composition
A blue palette built around the medallion drawing. The contrast is calibrated low so the rug works as a ground rather than as a graphic statement. Over years the dye depth shifts subtly under traffic and light, and the pattern emerges from the wear rather than retreating from it. The wool surface holds shadow at the cut edges, which is what gives a hand-finished rug its physical depth on the floor.
The piece in a room
The 8' x 10' (244 × 305 cm) format anchors a primary bedroom under a king bed with carpet showing on three sides, or a generous sitting room with a sectional and a pair of accent chairs. The medallion drawing reads from across the room. The rug also works in a dining setting under a six-to-eight seater table, with at least twenty-four inches of clearance beyond the chair backs when pulled out.
Care
Suction vacuum weekly. Blot spills with cool water and a clean cloth. Light shedding settles inside two months and does not affect the body of the rug. A professional dry clean every two to three years keeps the wool fresh and the latex backing sound. Use an underlay sized to the rug to prevent slipping and to extend the life of the backing.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
