Moroccan rug-making sits between the Berber tribal traditions of the Middle Atlas and the urban looms of Rabat and Fez. The form here borrows the open ivory field of a Beni Ourain and overlays a tighter trellis worked in cool wool, a vocabulary that crossed into Western design rooms in the 1950s and has stayed there.
The rug was made by hand across six to seven weeks by Two. The yarn was hand-spun, plant-dyed in small batches, and worked into the structure row by row. There is nothing in the construction that a machine touches, and the slight irregularities in the surface are the trace of the human hand at every step. The piece reads as cloth more than carpet and ages by softening rather than by flattening.
The composition
The work is composed around a yellow register. The figure is held at a quiet density across the field so the rug reads as ground rather than as ornament, which is the difference between a carpet that recedes into the room and one that fights with the rest of the furnishing. The colour will deepen and the geometry will tighten across the first year of use. Plant-derived dye gives the field a soft tonal register that synthetic colour does not reach; the wool ages into the palette rather than against it.
The piece in a room
At 5' x 8' the rug is the structural floor of a primary living area. Place a three-seater sofa above it with a low coffee table at the centre, and the geometry of the room is settled. The piece carries enough scale to be the principal colour decision in the space and asks the upholstery, the wall paint, and the lighting to take their cue from there.
Care
Daily care is minimal. Vacuum the surface weekly with the bar disengaged. Reverse the rug at six-month intervals so the two faces age in step. Spills are addressed with cool water on a soft cloth, blotting outward to inward. Periodic professional dry cleaning at three to four-year intervals keeps the structure clean and the dye honest.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
