The botanical motif on this rug looks back to the European chintzes that English merchants commissioned from Indian textile workshops through the 1700s. A measured floral cadence, no figural incident to anchor the pattern to a single moment. The result is a design that travels well across rooms and across decades of use without locking itself to the moment of its making.
Hand-tufted in India by 2 tufters and 1 finisher over seven to eight weeks. Wool was pushed through a stretched cotton canvas one row at a time with a hand-held gun, then sealed at the back with natural latex and a cotton scrim. The final pass was sheared by hand to bring the green motif up off the field.
The composition
The palette runs around green with quiet supporting tones drawn into the body of the field. Pattern density tightens at the centre and opens toward the edges, so the rug works as a single composed surface rather than a tile. Under direct light the colour deepens. Under indirect light it softens. The piece is built to age inside a room rather than to look static against it. Each year of use adds a small layer of patina the loom cannot reproduce.
The piece in a room
At 9' x 12' (9' x 12' (274 x 366 cm)) the rug becomes the composed ground of a large room rather than a piece of furniture inside it. The green field absorbs the architecture above it and gives the room its visual register. Direct sunlight helps the dye depth rather than hurting it.
Care
Vacuum on the suction-only setting weekly and avoid the beater bar entirely. Blot any spill with a clean dry cloth and treat with mild soap diluted in cool water. Expect a small amount of fibre shedding for the first six weeks of use as the new pile relaxes. Professional cleaning every three years extends the working life of the rug considerably.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
