A studio working at the meeting point of classical pattern and contemporary minimalism. The drawing is a contemporary reading of a much older form, with the proportions adjusted for the scale of contemporary rooms and the palette tuned for current domestic light.

The composition runs through a multicolour register, with secondary tones picked up in the field geometry. The drawing breaks symmetry deliberately at the centre so the eye reads the rug as a single composed surface rather than a tile repeat. The colour is engineered for stability under direct light, which is the trade-off the format makes against the slow patina of wool. The studio worked the design across several rounds of paper revision before approving it for production, with the spacing of the geometry tuned to room scale rather than to a flat sample swatch.

The fibre

The yarn is heat-set polypropylene, an engineered fibre with the colour locked in by temperature rather than printed on. Stains resist setting because the fibre is non-porous. Direct sun does not bleach the colour the way it slowly bleaches wool. The pile does not shed.

The composition

The pattern is restrained enough to live under bright art and dense furniture without competing. The multicolour sits as a quiet field. Best paired with mid-tone wood, brushed metal, and uncluttered upholstery. The fibre carries colour with more saturation than a wool weave at the same price point, which makes the design read clearly even under low ambient light.

The piece in a room

5' x 8' (152 x 244 cm). At 5' x 8' or 6' x 9' the rug anchors a seating area of two facing sofas, a king bed with the front two feet of the frame on the rug, or a dining table for four to six. The multicolour reading carries cleanly under both warm tungsten and cool LED. Pet hair and crumbs lift easily under a routine vacuum.

Care

Vacuum weekly, suction or beater bar acceptable. Mild detergent and a damp cloth handle most spills inside the first ten minutes. The piece can be machine washed cold if needed and dries flat in a couple of hours. Professional cleaning is not required for the lifetime of the rug. The fibre handles repeated cleaning without losing colour or pile structure.
