The Persian drawing here belongs to the strand of textile design that runs through European workshops and the design programmes of contemporary studios. The pattern was finalised after dozens of yarn trials. The colour balance was the slow part; small shifts in saturation change the entire weight of the field.
Colour was held to a red register; the studio worked the proofs in painted gouache before approving the file for the loom. The drawing was sized for room-scale viewing rather than catalogue close-up, and the relationship between the figure and the ground was tuned to read at conversational distance.
The composition
The red field is laid out so that no single area dominates. The eye travels across the surface rather than landing in one corner. The drawing pairs with walnut, oak, brass, leather, and linen; it tolerates strongly patterned upholstery less well, since the rug is built to be the graphic note in the composition. In a room with art on the walls, hang the work in matching tonal families and let the rug do the chromatic anchoring.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene pile. Colour is fixed by heat, not by surface dye, so the rug does not fade in sunlit rooms. The fibre rejects stains: water, oil-based, and pigment-based spills lift with a damp cloth. There is no shedding, no shedding-related allergen issue, and the fibre is suitable for households with cats and dogs.
Why this rug
The drawing was specified by a studio that designs across both wool and synthetic categories. The transfer to a heat-set fibre keeps the design intent intact while opening the price band; the red composition reads with the same authority it would carry in a knotted edition, at a fraction of the weaver-months and a fraction of the price.
The piece in a room
At 5' x 7' (152 × 213 cm) the rug fits under a primary sofa group or a dining table. The pile is dense enough to read as a textile rather than a printed mat. Suits homes with children and pets; the construction tolerates daily use without showing wear. The non-shedding fibre means there is no pile residue to vacuum out of soft furnishings.
Care
Weekly vacuuming keeps the pile upright. Spot clean with cool water and mild detergent. For a stubborn stain the rug folds into a domestic drum on a 30 °C cycle. Lay flat to dry. The colour does not bleed in the wash; the heat-set process locks the dye into the fibre permanently.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
