Rugsville Marlene Abstract Multi Modern Carpet 5'2" x 7'8"

The composition was developed for a current generation of buyers who want the formal language of older Persian and Turkish carpets without the historical density. The studio reduced the pattern, adjusted the palette, and tuned the scale to read in a contemporary room.

The composition runs through a multicolour register, with secondary tones picked up in the field geometry. The drawing breaks symmetry deliberately at the centre so the eye reads the rug as a single composed surface rather than a tile repeat. The colour is engineered for stability under direct light, which is the trade-off the format makes against the slow patina of wool. The studio worked the design across several rounds of paper revision before approving it for production, with the spacing of the geometry tuned to room scale rather than to a flat sample swatch.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene. The colour is locked at the fibre level by temperature rather than dipped at the surface, which is why direct sunlight does not wash the saturation out the way it bleaches pigment-printed yarns. The fibre resists staining at the molecular level: spilled wine, juice, oil and coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set. The pile stays flat under furniture and does not shed.

The composition

The pattern is restrained enough to live under bright art and dense furniture without competing. The multicolour sits as a quiet field. Best paired with mid-tone wood, brushed metal, and uncluttered upholstery. The fibre carries colour with more saturation than a wool weave at the same price point, which makes the design read clearly even under low ambient light.

The piece in a room

5' x 8' (152 x 244 cm). The size suits a medium living room, a primary bedroom under the bed and night tables, or a study set up around a partner desk. The multicolour reading carries cleanly under both warm tungsten and cool LED. Pet hair and crumbs lift easily under a routine vacuum.

Care

Vacuum weekly with the beater bar engaged or disengaged, the fibre tolerates either. Spot clean with mild detergent on a clean cotton cloth. Machine wash on a cold cycle if a spill does not lift; the size folds to fit a domestic drum. Dries flat in two hours. No professional cleaning required, no rotating-brush damage to worry about, no shedding into the room air.
