Complete your setup
The floral all-over motif works at this scale because nothing competes with it. Lay it across a floor and the rest of the room arranges itself around the geometry instead of fighting for the same attention.
The piece was hand-tufted in India over 4 weeks by a team of two tufters and a finisher. New zealand wool was pushed through a stretched cotton canvas one row at a time with a tufting gun, then sealed at the back with natural latex and a cotton scrim. The last pass was carried out by hand with long shears, dropping the pile to 14 mm and lifting the pattern into low relief above the field.
The composition
Across the surface, ivory and warm cream sit against each other in clean separation. The high-low carving lifts the design two millimetres above the field; the shadow line that registers in lamplight is doing as much of the visual work as the colour itself. The wool used for the lighter elements is left undyed New Zealand fleece, which means the contrast deepens with age rather than fading.
Tufting allows a faster build than hand-knotting, which is why a piece of this scale comes in at a fraction of the price of a knotted equivalent. The trade-off is the cotton scrim backing instead of a woven foundation; the rug is meant to be used over an underlay rather than walked on bare slip. With reasonable care, the construction holds for fifteen to twenty years of daily use.
The piece in a room
size as listed is the working scale for a study, a smaller sitting room, or the foot of a bed. The pile is dense enough to register as a textile rather than as flooring underneath the furniture. The ivory field accepts a pair of armchairs and a reading lamp without crowding, and the geometry stays legible even when partially covered by furniture.
Care
Vacuum weekly with the beater bar disengaged. Every tufted rug loses some fibre to a beater bar regardless of price. Blot spills with a clean cotton cloth, never rub; press down to absorb rather than pulling across the surface. Expect light shedding for the first six weeks of use as loose fibres work themselves out of the pile; the density of the body of the rug is unaffected. Professional dry clean every two to three years. Use a non-slip underlay to extend the life of the backing.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
