The Persian motif survives because it does its work without insisting. A composition that lays a quiet order across the floor and lets the room speak above it. The same logic underpins much of the architectural ornament you encounter without naming, the cast-iron screens and the tile work and the painted ceilings that hold a room without claiming it.
The rug was hand-tufted over about two weeks by two tufters and a finisher. Wool was pushed through stretched cotton canvas one row at a time with a tufting tool, then sealed at the back with natural latex and a cotton scrim. The final pass was hand shearing to bring the Persian drawing into relief above the beige field.
The composition
The beige field carries the work. Secondary tones sit close in value rather than competing, so the eye reads the pattern as one composition rather than as a layered surface. The Persian structure shows differently in morning and evening light, the weave catching shadow at low angles and flattening to a single colour plane at midday. Walk past the rug and it changes; sit beside it and it settles. That movement is part of how a hand-finished textile lives in a room.
The piece in a room
A 2' x 3' (61 × 91 cm) rug fits an entry mat, the foot of a single bed, or a kitchen prep area outside the cooking zone. The beige palette pairs with raw wood, painted plaster, and unbleached linen. The small format also makes the piece useful as a layered accent over a larger neutral floor covering, where the Persian drawing reads as a centred composition within the larger field. Move the rug between rooms over its life; small pieces travel.
Care
Vacuum weekly with the beater bar disengaged. Every tufted rug loses fibre to a beater bar regardless of its price. Blot spills with a clean cotton cloth, never scrub. Expect light shedding for the first six weeks as loose fibres work themselves out of the pile. Professional dry clean every three years. The latex backing has a service life of fifteen to twenty years; expect to recondition or replace at that point if the surface is still in good order.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
