Tufted construction is the working format for contemporary carpet design. It carries a saturated wool pile, holds the drawing crisply, and lets the studio iterate on a piece at room scale rather than at a sample swatch. This rug uses that format to deliver a considered field at honest cost; the drawing is the work, the construction is the support.
Built in India across six weeks. Two tufters fed wool through the canvas with the gun, the back was bonded with latex and finished with a cotton scrim, and the surface was sculpted with long shears in a final pass. The relief is what stops the pattern from dissolving into noise at viewing distance, and it is the difference between a tufted rug that reads as a designed object and one that reads as a printed surface.
The composition
The composition is built around a saturated beige ground with the drawing brought up by a sculpted relief in the finishing pass. Yarn-dyed wool keeps the colour reading clean across the field; the relief keeps the pattern crisp at room scale; and the New Zealand staple gives the surface a faint sheen that catches the lamps in a evening room.
The piece in a room
A 8' × 10' (244 × 305 cm) format works as a full living area with a sectional or a six-to-eight seat dining table. The beige field gives the room an axis. Walnut, oak, linen upholstery, leather sit comfortably on it; the geometry pairs poorly with strongly patterned upholstery, where the rug expects to be the only graphic element holding the floor.
Care
Vacuum weekly with the beater bar disengaged. Every tufted rug loses fibre to a beater bar regardless of price. Blot spills with a clean cotton cloth, never rub. Light shedding is normal for the first six weeks of use as loose fibres work themselves out of the pile. Professional dry clean every two to three years.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
