A floral field rug is built on quiet repetition. The motif is small and the field carries it across the entire ground without break, which is what gives the rug its meditative quality. Persian and Mughal court weavings used the device to suggest the paradisical garden; the modern transitional uses it for visual calm.
Two weavers at the tufting frame for six to seven weeks, and a finisher behind them. The wool was hand-spun and dyed in small batches before it ever reached the canvas. Tufting builds the rug face down on a stretched frame; the back is sealed in latex with a cotton scrim, and the surface is sheared by hand at the end to bring the pile down to a uniform plane. The composition is then washed to settle the dye and lift the wool's natural sheen.
The composition
The composition rests on gold and mehroon. The figures move across the field at a measured density, with the negative space holding as much weight as the marked geometry. The colour will continue to settle across the first months of use, as the wool oxidises against ambient light and the dye finds its final saturation. The colour relationships in the field will tighten as the wool settles into the foundation across the first months of use.
The piece in a room
5' x 8' fits the conversation circle of a working living room or the foot of a queen-size bed. The rug becomes the visual ground of the arrangement; the architecture and the lighting are read against its palette rather than the other way round. The piece sits well across stone, timber, and engineered floors.
Care
The piece needs gentle weekly vacuuming, suction only, and prompt blotting of any spill with a clean dry cloth. Loose fibre will clear from the surface across the first six to eight weeks of use; this is a property of the tufting process and not a flaw in the rug. Have the piece professionally dry-cleaned every two to three years.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
