Gold as a primary ground colour is rare in the Persian and Mughal silk tradition. Madder red and indigo dominate the historical palette, with gold reserved for borders, medallions, and accent vine work. A field rendered in gold owes its lineage instead to the late Ottoman court silks of the seventeenth century and to the European textile fashion of the Sun King's France, where weft-brocaded silk hangings in pale gold became the visual language of palace interiors. The Darsameen pattern brings that gold-ground sensibility into a 6' Persian-knotted silk round.
Two weavers shared the circular loom for around six months. The pile is mulberry silk reeled from northern Indian cocoons and dyed in weld, walnut, and a small admixture of madder to push the gold toward warm rather than green. The cotton warp and weft are set on a radial jig to maintain even tension as the rug grows outward from the centre. The knot density runs into the fine range, which is the minimum the floral geometry requires to read crisply at the perimeter.
The composition
A pale gold ground, almost honey under warm light and almost cream under cool, with a central rosette in ivory and brass tones and floral vine work radiating outward in radial symmetry. The border carries a layered meander in deeper gold against the field, framing rather than competing with the central composition. Silk reflects light at every angle, so the gold shifts between amber and bone as the viewer moves around the rug.
What you are buying
Pure silk round rugs in gold or pale yellow are unusual at any size; at 6' diameter, Western specialists list pieces of this construction between 4,500 and 8,500 USD. The pale ground rewards close inspection; the dye work has nowhere to hide in a gold-on-ivory composition, and any muddy bath shows immediately. The rug here is at the source production cost. Silk pile appreciates with use rather than depreciating, gaining a soft luster over years of regular wear.
The piece in a room
6' Round (183 cm diameter) sits well at the centre of a foyer beneath a chandelier, beneath a round dining table for four, or as the ground for a sitting circle with a sofa, two chairs, and a centre coffee table. The gold palette pairs with walnut, brass, ivory plaster, soft leather, and stone floors in travertine or limestone. The colour reads neutral at distance and warm on approach.
Conservation
Rotate ninety degrees every three months. Vacuum gently on the lowest suction setting with no beater bar and no brush. Blot any moisture immediately with a dry cotton cloth. A silk-specialist conservator should hand wash the rug every four to six years. Pale silks are the most vulnerable to direct sun; keep the piece out of strong west or south light.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Customer Reviews
Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
