Pure mulberry silk pile on a fine cotton foundation, every knot tied by feel with the Persian asymmetric throw, knot density at the upper Indian end. The dyes were brought up across multiple short cycles to preserve silk lustre. Beige holds the field. Light brown takes the medallion structure, the palmettes on the axes, and the supporting border vocabulary.

The composition

The two-tone palette reads as a single design decision carried through every register of the rug. Beige and light brown sit close enough on the spectrum that the surface does not divide visually into separate fields. Instead the medallion appears as relief on the same colour, the way light models form on a stone surface. Silk pile shifts both colours between two values along the warp and weft directions, so the same surface reads with subtle variation through the day.
