Rugsville Izabelle Oriental Ivory Persian Carpet 5'3" x 7'9"

The Persian pattern in this rug was developed by a contemporary studio in dialogue with vintage source material. The drawing was iterated for several months in pencil and digital colour proof before going to the loom. What began as a study of antique textiles ended as a composition that suits a present-day living room without quoting the past too literally.

The ivory composition was mocked up in painted artwork, then translated into a digital pattern file at full resolution before going to the jacquard loom. The studio approved a strike-off sample at full scale before signing off on the production run.

The composition

A composed ivory ground without a single focal point. The drawing rewards a room with restrained upholstery and strong architectural lines. Wood floors and stone walls suit it; mirrored or glossy surfaces less so. The pile holds shadow detail under low light, which means the rug carries presence in the evening rather than disappearing once the lamps go on.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene. The colour is locked into the fibre by temperature rather than printed onto the surface, which is why saturation does not fade under direct sunlight. The yarn resists staining at a molecular level; coffee, juice, and wine lift with a damp cloth before they set. The pile recovers from furniture compression overnight and does not shed; there is no fibre residue to vacuum out of soft furnishings around the rug.

Why this rug

The piece works as the visual ground for a room without asking for the careful handling that a hand-knotted carpet demands. The ivory register is calibrated for design-forward interiors that also have to accommodate daily life. Children, pets, and casual eating all share the floor with the rug without the owner having to think about it.

The piece in a room

5' x 8' (152 × 244 cm) is a working scale for living rooms in flats, dining areas with a six-seater table, primary bedrooms, and high-traffic corridors where a wool rug would not survive. The geometry holds at distance and resolves on approach. The pile recovers from indentation overnight, so heavy furniture rotation does not leave permanent marks.

Care

Vacuum weekly. Spot clean with mild detergent on a clean cloth. The rug folds into a domestic washing drum on a cold 30 °C cycle if a stain resists spot cleaning. Air-dries flat in two to three hours. No professional cleaning required across the life of the rug.
