The Heriz tradition belongs to north-western Persia, where village weavers translated the floral courtly idiom into a tougher, more graphic vocabulary built for everyday use. The hand-tufted method is the right answer for a contemporary drawing that wants saturation and pile relief without the multi-month build of a knotted carpet. The trade-off is a shorter conservation horizon balanced by a far lower entry price.
Hand-tufted in India by a small team of three across 4 weeks. Wool pile, latex-bonded back, cotton scrim, and hand-shorn relief on the front face. Edges hand-bound, fringe omitted to keep the rug reading as a contemporary surface rather than a traditional knotted weave.
The composition
The beige ground anchors the rug. Pile relief separates motif from field by a few millimetres, which is the difference between a rug that reads as a considered surface and one that reads flat. The yarn is wool, dense enough to walk on barefoot and resilient enough to hold its hand under furniture for years. The carved relief lifts the drawing about two millimetres above the field. That single dimensional shift is what separates a tufted rug that reads as decoration from one that reads as a designed surface.
The piece in a room
size as listed works under a flat-scale lounge, a primary bedroom, or a six-seat dining table. The beige colour pairs with both warm and cool wood floors, with leather and linen upholstery, and with painted walls that lean toward chalk rather than gloss. The drawing pairs cleanly with mid-tone walls in clay, putty, or oat. Architecture in stone or wood lets the rug carry the colour. Position the rug so a clear band of the beige field shows between the edge of the carpet and the skirting. The piece is composed, not fitted.
Care
Use suction-only vacuuming on a weekly schedule. Blot any spill immediately with a clean cotton cloth. Initial shedding settles after about six weeks of normal use. Have the rug professionally dry-cleaned every two to three years.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
