Complete your setup
The drawing in this rug grew out of contemporary studio work that draws on a long international vocabulary of carpet design, refined to read at room scale.
A single weaver shared the loom for 4 months. Around 414,720 Persian-asymmetric knots, every one tied by feel against a vertical beam. The pile is hand-spun wool, chosen for the way it takes dye and holds the slight irregularity that gives a hand-knotted ground its patina. Foundation in cotton warp and weft, hand-finished selvedges, fringes left long.
The composition
The composition centres on the neutral field, with the drawing arranged so the eye moves rather than landing on a single point. Every element is sized to read at the scale of the room rather than the scale of the loom. Dye saturation moves slightly across the field, the way hand-spun yarn always does, and the variation reads as breath rather than as flaw. The dyes were prepared in small batches and matured before the wool was dipped, which is why the neutral reads with the depth of a glaze rather than the flatness of a single coat. What the rug is now is the starting condition. The patina is the long-term composition, and a well-made hand-knotted carpet is engineered to gain rather than lose through that process.
What you are buying
This is an entry point to collecting hand-knotted wool work. The drawing, the foundation, and the dyeing are done in the same idiom as far more expensive rugs, only at a tighter knot count and a smaller scale. Used and rotated properly, it will hold its hand for decades and gain patina rather than wear out.
The piece in a room
4' × 6' (122 × 183 cm) sits well under a hallway, a smaller bedroom, or a defined seating nook. The neutral ground holds against painted walls in chalk, plaster, or warm white, and against natural wood joinery. Holds against painted plaster, lime-washed brick, or limewashed wood joinery without competing with them. A low underlay extends the life of the rug and keeps it from creeping on a polished floor. Choose a felted underlay rather than rubber to avoid trapping moisture.
Conservation
A half turn each season keeps the wear even. Vacuum suction-only on a low setting. Blot, never rub, on accidents. A wool-trained conservator should hand-wash the piece roughly every six years. Stored properly, the rug remains a household asset for several generations.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
