The Trellis, the open field, the saturated single-colour ground are motifs that survive in textile design because they do nothing showy. They give a room a considered floor and let the architecture and the furniture above them carry the weight. The strongest contemporary carpets follow that logic. Quiet pattern, sustained colour, a ground rather than a centrepiece.
The carpet was hand-tufted in India by 2 tufters and 1 finisher over seven to eight weeks. Wool was pushed through a stretched cotton canvas with a tufting gun, locked behind with natural latex, and finished with a woven cotton scrim. The gold pile was sheared by hand for an even surface and a clean line at the border.
The composition
The drawing keeps to a gold register and works a measured scale across the field. The motif lives in low relief above the ground rather than fighting it for attention. Light catches the pile differently depending on direction, and the field switches between a slightly darker and lighter reading as you walk around the carpet. The composition is finished rather than busy, which is the harder of the two outcomes to achieve on a hand-made loom.
The piece in a room
At 9' x 12' (9' x 12' (274 x 366 cm)) the rug becomes the composed ground of a large room rather than a piece of furniture inside it. The gold field absorbs the architecture above it and gives the room its visual register. Direct sunlight helps the dye depth rather than hurting it.
Care
Use a vacuum on suction only. Blot spills, do not rub. Light shedding is normal for the first month and a half as the loose surface fibres work themselves out; the body of the pile is unaffected. A professional dry-clean every two to three years keeps the latex backing supple and the pile colour true. A pad underneath the rug protects both the latex and the floor below.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
