The pattern in this rug grew out of the Persian classical vocabulary, redrawn in a contemporary studio for production at architectural scale. A medallion at the centre, palmettes and vinework filling the field, layered borders returning the eye to the composition. The drawing was developed over months in graphite and ink before approval for the loom.
The composition is anchored in red, with the supporting palette tuned to give the dominant colour somewhere to sit. The drawing reads at room scale and rewards close inspection. The cartoon was tested at full scale before production began, with the studio resolving how each motif sat against its neighbours, how the borders carried the eye back to the field, and how the composition held up under the kinds of furniture a working room places on top of a rug. The finished piece is the product of that prototyping discipline.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. The yarn is engineered so colour is locked in by temperature rather than by surface dye, which is why saturation does not fade under direct sunlight the way pigment printing fades. The fibre resists staining at the molecular level: spilled wine, juice, oil, or coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set. The pile stays flat under furniture and the surface does not shed.
The composition
Built around red, with a supporting palette held narrow for clarity. The pattern stays legible across the floor of a primary room. The drawing was developed in graphite and ink before any cartoon was prepared, and the shifts in tone across the field are deliberate compositional choices rather than printing artefacts. The geometry holds its register under chairs, sofas, and tables.
The piece in a room
5' × 8' (152 × 244 cm) is the working scale for living rooms in apartments, dining areas under a six- or eight-seater table, primary bedrooms, and corridors that see traffic. The geometry holds at distance and reveals on approach.
Care
Vacuum weekly with any standard upright or canister. Spot clean with a mild detergent on a clean cloth, blotting rather than rubbing. The fibre tolerates a cold-cycle wash at thirty degrees if a spill resists spot cleaning, and the rug dries flat in a few hours without losing its drape. No professional cleaning is required to keep the surface in working condition.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
