The Trellis, the open field, the saturated single-colour ground are motifs that survive in textile design because they do nothing showy. They give a room a considered floor and let the architecture and the furniture above them carry the weight. The strongest contemporary carpets follow that logic. Quiet pattern, sustained colour, a ground rather than a centrepiece.
The carpet was hand-tufted in India by 2 tufters and 1 finisher over three weeks. Wool was pushed through a stretched cotton canvas with a tufting gun, locked behind with natural latex, and finished with a woven cotton scrim. The beige pile was sheared by hand for an even surface and a clean line at the border.
The composition
The palette runs around beige with quiet supporting tones drawn into the body of the field. Pattern density tightens at the centre and opens toward the edges, so the rug works as a single composed surface rather than a tile. Under direct light the colour deepens. Under indirect light it softens. The piece is built to age inside a room rather than to look static against it. Each year of use adds a small layer of patina the loom cannot reproduce.
The piece in a room
3' x 5' (3' x 5' (91 x 152 cm)) is the working scale for a corridor, a galley kitchen, a long entry, or the side of a primary bed. The runner format extends the room in one direction and softens the foot traffic. The beige composition reads down the length of the rug rather than from a single point.
Care
Vacuum weekly with the beater bar disengaged. Every tufted rug loses a small amount of fibre to a beater bar regardless of price, so the suction-only setting is what protects the pile. Blot spills with a clean cotton cloth, never rub. Expect light shedding for the first six weeks of use as loose fibres settle out of the new pile. Professional dry-clean every three years to keep the colour true and the latex backing supple.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
