The composition

The neutral pattern is built up row by row from coloured weft. There is no pile to crush, no knot to wear, only the weave itself. The flat profile means both faces are usable, although the front carries the cleaner finish. Slit-weave joins separate adjacent colour blocks, leaving a small open seam where two fields meet. That detail is the signature of the flatweave tradition and the reason the structure is so durable. The seams settle and tighten with use.

The drawing pairs cleanly with mid-tone walls in clay, putty, or oat. Architecture in stone or wood lets the rug carry the colour. Plan the placement so a band of bare floor frames the rug. The structure reads better with air around it than fitted to the architecture. Pairs well with reclaimed timber, polished concrete, and limewashed walls.

Care

Weekly vacuuming on suction only, no beater bar. Blot any spill with cool water and a clean cloth. The rug can be rolled and shaken out of doors when needed. Professional cleaning every three to four years. The weft tightens with light use and the rug grows more comfortable over time.
