Complete your setup
Sari silk weaving in India turns one of the country's largest textile waste streams into a fibre of remarkable softness and chromatic range. Off-cuts, end-of-bolt rolls, and worn ceremonial saris are sorted by colour, hand-shredded, and re-spun into a yarn that retains the chemical dyes of its previous life. The Eros pattern in this rug pulls those mixed silks into a kaleidoscopic motif inspired by nineteenth-century Central Asian suzani embroidery, where blue grounds were broken by floral and astral medallions in saturated jewel tones.
Two to three weavers worked the loom for roughly seven months. The silk was knotted onto a cotton warp at high density. Silk holds detail at a knot count where wool would blur, which is why the medallions in this rug carry sharp edges and subtle gradient inside each shape. The pile is short by design, around 4 mm, so the silk's natural sheen catches light directly and the colour shifts as you walk past.
The composition
A blue ground breaks into ultramarine, teal, and lapis where the recycled silks vary. Across it sit medallions in coral, saffron, magenta, jade, and pale rose. The motif is repeating but each medallion holds a slightly different colour mix because no two silk batches dye identically. The overall composition behaves as a kaleidoscope: stable in geometry, fluid in colour.
What you are buying
Comparable hand-knotted silk rugs at this size and density list with Western dealers between $9,000 and $14,000. Sari silk is unique to India; the recycled-silk supply chain does not exist at scale anywhere else. The rug appreciates with use rather than depreciating, and the silk develops a deeper sheen as it is walked on and the surface fibres compact.
The piece in a room
6' x 9' (183 x 274 cm) is the working scale for a primary bedroom under the foot of a king bed, or for a seating cluster in front of a sofa. The sheen of silk requires considered light: morning sun or warm lamps make the colour shift dramatically; flat overhead lighting flattens it. Pairs with bone walls, dark wood, and minimal upholstery so the rug carries the colour budget of the room.
Conservation
Silk needs gentler handling than wool. Vacuum weekly with suction only, no beater bar, brush attachment off. Blot spills immediately with a clean white cotton cloth; never rub. Professional silk-trained conservator clean every four to five years. Keep out of direct, prolonged sun; brief exposure is fine, hours per day will fade the dyes.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
