A dhurrie is the truest expression of what an Indian loom does. The structure is weft-faced, the design counted as the rug grows, and the surface is worked flat enough that the piece reads almost as cloth on the floor. Stripes, chevrons and lozenges are the building blocks; everything else is a recombination.
The piece was woven across four to five weeks by Two. The weft was packed weft by weft against a cotton warp, with the design carried in the weaver's count rather than in a paper cartoon. The flat structure means both faces of the rug carry the same image, and the piece is fully reversible. Hand-spun yarn, washed after weaving to settle the dye and bring the surface to its final feel.
The composition
A brown register is what the composition is for. The pattern is the device that delivers the colour at room scale; the design is in service of the palette rather than the other way around. The wool was hand-spun and the dyes prepared in small batches, so the field carries the quiet unevenness that the human hand leaves on every step of the process. The piece reads as patina from the day it is unrolled, rather than acquiring patina across years of wear.
The piece in a room
5' x 8' is the right scale for the primary seating arrangement of a one- or two-bedroom home. The rug holds a sofa, two armchairs, and a coffee table inside its margins, with breathing room around the furniture so the composition is legible. The geometry is sized to read at the distance from the doorway to the seating.
Care
A flatweave needs less intensive care than a pile rug. Run a vacuum across the surface once a week on the lowest suction; turn the piece end for end every six months. Spills lift with cool water and a mild soap on a soft cloth, blotting only. The rug can be sent for professional dry cleaning every three to four years to renew the weft and refresh the surface colour.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
