The pattern in this rug grew out of contemporary studio practice working in conversation with mid-century European abstraction. The composition is asymmetric, the colour blocks are clean, and the field reads as a single drawing rather than a decorative repeat.

The colour register on this piece holds two values of pink against a paler ground, with secondary accents that bring the composition into balance. The studio worked the drawing in chalk and gouache for several months, refining the proportions and the colour ratios, before approving it for production. What reaches the loom is the result of that drafting work, not a quick sketch handed to a weaver.

The fibre

The fibre is heat-set polypropylene. Colour is bonded into the polymer by heat, not painted on, so the saturation holds against UV and against household cleaners both. Spills sit on the surface long enough to be lifted with a damp cloth, and the pile recovers from compression marks from furniture without the lengthy memory that wool retains. The yarn is engineered for households with children, pets, and frequent foot traffic.

At room scale the pink carries the field as a single colour event. Up close the design vocabulary resolves into the motifs the studio drew from. Best with restrained upholstery, mid-tone walls, and warm wood floors that let the colour register breathe. The piece is engineered to set a quiet ground for the rest of the room rather than to compete with it.

Care

Vacuum weekly. Mild detergent and cool water lift most spills before they set. The fibre tolerates machine washing for sizes that fit a domestic drum, and air-dries flat in a couple of hours. No specialist cleaning needed across the rug's working life. A quarter-turn rotation each season keeps the wear even and the colour read consistent across the field.
