Tufted construction is the working format for contemporary carpet design. The work was carried out in India over around five weeks. Two tufters pushed wool through stretched cotton canvas, the back was sealed with natural latex and a cotton scrim, and a finisher took long shears across the surface to bring the drawing into relief. Done well, the technique keeps the pattern crisp for years and the saturated colour reads cleanly across the field even as the room around it changes its lighting through the day.
The composition
The composition is built around a saturated beige and blue ground with the drawing brought up by a sculpted relief in the finishing pass. Yarn-dyed wool keeps the colour reading clean across the field; the relief keeps the pattern crisp at room scale; and the New Zealand staple gives the surface a faint sheen that catches the lamps in a evening room.
The piece in a room
5' × 8' (152 × 244 cm) is the working scale for a primary bedroom or a medium living area. The beige and blue ground reads against warm chalk, oat, or the deeper terracotta walls a neutral rug needs, and the geometry holds at viewing distance from a sofa or dining chair. Pairs with walnut, oak, linen upholstery, leather. Direct sunlight on the rug deepens the colour relationships; the piece is built to be lived on, not protected.
Care
Run a suction-only vacuum across the rug each week; a beater bar will work fibre out of the latex backing over time. Blot spills immediately with a white cloth. Expect six to eight weeks of light shedding from the surface, after which the pile settles. A professional dry clean every two years keeps the colour clean.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
