The Persian carpet has been the reference object for floor textiles in Europe and West Asia for six hundred years. The motif vocabulary on this piece, with its central medallion, corner spandrels, and bordered field, traces directly to the Safavid court workshops of sixteenth-century Iran.

The drawing reads as resolved rather than busy. A green field, a measured motif, and supporting tones that earn their place in the composition. The studio held the design through several iterations before signing it off, watching the colour at sample scale before committing to a full run. The discipline shows in the way the eye moves across the surface.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene yarn, jacquard-woven on the loom. The fibre takes pigment at the molecular level and resists the sun-bleaching that affects natural fibres over a few seasons. The pile recovers from furniture compression and does not shed. The construction is engineered to survive a decade of use in a primary living space without losing its read or its colour.

The composition

The composition rewards both the across-the-room read and the up-close look. At distance, the green field organises the geometry into a single coherent statement. Up close, the secondary tones and the line work resolve into the motif vocabulary the design was drawn from. The piece pairs with walnut, oak, brass, and matte iron, and it pairs poorly with strongly patterned upholstery; the rug expects to be the only graphic element in the room.

The piece in a room

5' x 8' (152 × 244 cm) is the working scale for living rooms in flats, dining areas under a six-seater table, and primary bedrooms. The green register reads at distance and rewards a closer look. The piece anchors a small living group with the front legs of the sofa on the field and the side chairs floating, or covers the floor under a queen bed with a hand-span of margin past the frame.

Care

Vacuum weekly with a standard upright. Spot clean with mild detergent on a clean cotton cloth, working from the outside of the spill toward the centre. The rug accepts a cool 30°C machine wash if a spill resists spot cleaning, and dries flat in a few hours indoors. No professional cleaning required at any point in the rug's life. Furniture rotation each season prevents compression at fixed points.
