Rugsville Anaya Oriental Ivory Persian Carpet 5'4" x 7'8"

An Oriental design at this scale is doing what the classical Persian drawings did: organising a room around a single central event. The medallion holds the geometry, the borders frame the conversation, and everything between is calibrated for repetition.

Colour does the structural work. The ivory carries the field, the secondary tones organise the motif, and the negative space is engineered to give the eye somewhere to rest. The composition was drawn over months before any production began, with the proportions tested at quarter-scale samples and the colour values calibrated against natural and artificial light.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene yarn, jacquard-woven on the loom. The fibre takes pigment at the molecular level and resists the sun-bleaching that affects natural fibres over a few seasons. The pile recovers from furniture compression and does not shed. The construction is engineered to survive a decade of use in a primary living space without losing its read or its colour.

The composition

The composition rewards both the across-the-room read and the up-close look. At distance, the ivory field organises the geometry into a single coherent statement. Up close, the secondary tones and the line work resolve into the motif vocabulary the design was drawn from. The piece pairs with walnut, oak, brass, and matte iron, and it pairs poorly with strongly patterned upholstery; the rug expects to be the only graphic element in the room.

The piece in a room

5' x 8' (152 × 244 cm) suits a medium living room, a guest bedroom, or a study with a single chair and reading lamp. The ivory register pairs with both warm and cool wall colours. The pile depth gives the rug presence underfoot, while the colour discipline keeps the piece from competing with the architecture of the room.

Care

Weekly vacuuming and spot cleaning with mild detergent handle ordinary use. Heat-set polypropylene tolerates a domestic 30°C wash if the size folds to fit the drum, and the rug dries flat overnight without needing professional intervention. Rotate a quarter turn each season so foot traffic and direct sun age the surface evenly across the field.
