Rugsville Alannah Black Floral Persian Carpet 5'3" x 7'7"

The design comes from a Turkish studio working on contemporary domestic carpets for an international market. The composition draws on classical sources but is redrawn at every step for the realities of a working room rather than a museum case.

A floral lineage carried in a black palette: medallion, scrolling vine, framed border, the same architecture that defines the older Persian and Mughal carpets. The colour reads with the saturation that engineered fibres hold under both daylight and tungsten. The drawing was adapted from older formal sources but redrawn for the loom this rug was made on, with the corner spandrels and the central rosette resized so the composition holds at this rectangle.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene yarn. The dye is fused into the fibre during manufacture rather than dyed on at the surface, so the colour does not fade under window light or strong sunlight. Spills bead on the surface long enough to be lifted with a cloth. No shedding, no pile loss under chair legs, no fibre release into the room air.

The composition

The pattern is restrained enough to live under bright art and dense furniture without competing. The black sits as a quiet field. Best paired with mid-tone wood, brushed metal, and uncluttered upholstery. The fibre carries colour with more saturation than a wool weave at the same price point, which makes the design read clearly even under low ambient light.

The piece in a room

5' x 8' (152 x 244 cm). The size suits a medium living room, a primary bedroom under the bed and night tables, or a study set up around a partner desk. The pile holds its level under sofa legs and bed feet without crushing, which keeps the black reading uniform across years of use.

Care

Vacuum weekly, suction or beater bar acceptable. Mild detergent and a damp cloth handle most spills inside the first ten minutes. The piece can be machine washed cold if needed and dries flat in a couple of hours. Professional cleaning is not required for the lifetime of the rug. The fibre handles repeated cleaning without losing colour or pile structure.
