Complete your setup
Floral carpet drawing in the Persian tradition is a discipline of its own. Each rosette and vinework swirl is set down by feel against a vertical loom. The composition below carries that drawing forward without falling into the busyness that lesser floral repeats produce.
A single weaver shared the loom for 3 months. Around 346 thousand hand-tied knots at roughly 120 per square inch, every one set against a vertical beam by feel. The pile is New Zealand wool, prepared in small batches and lowered into copper vats for plant-based dye drawn from madder, walnut, henna, and aged indigo, each colour matured for two to three weeks before the wool is dyed. The foundation is cotton, hand-spun and tensioned across the warp before the first row of knots is tied. The fringe at either end is the warp itself, knotted off and trimmed by hand once the rug comes off the loom. The piece reads at 2'6" x 8' (76 x 244 cm) in brown and beige, finished in India.
The composition
Vinework in brown and beige runs corner to corner with the irregular grace plant dye produces. The pattern is denser at the centre and opens toward the borders, so the eye reads the rug as a single composition rather than as a tile that repeats. The rosettes are drawn at a scale that registers from across a room without losing their internal detail to anyone who walks closer.
What you are buying
Equivalent hand-knotted wool carpets sourced through Western dealers carry a multiple of this listing. What you are paying for is months of work by a small team of weavers, the cost of long-staple wool, and a piece of textile that gains rather than loses value across its working life. There is no other object you put on a floor with that property at any price.
The piece in a room
2'6" x 8' (76 x 244 cm) is the entryway and short-corridor scale. The drawing is set so the rug can be read from above as one walks across it, rather than appreciated from a single end. The brown holds against most floor finishes. The piece takes the daily traffic of an entry hall and ages the way a good runner is meant to. The composition does not become busy when read repeatedly from the same angle.
Conservation
Vacuum weekly, suction only, beater bar off. Rotate twice a year so the pile wears evenly. Blot spills with cotton, never rub. A professional hand-wash every four to six years restores the dye depth and lifts the dust trapped in the foundation. The rug is built to outlast its first owners.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
