Modern carpet design borrowed from twentieth-century painting. The line of descent runs from Sonia Delaunay through Anni Albers to the studio that drew this composition. Colour is structural; pattern is incidental.
Colour does the structural work. The beige carries the field, the secondary tones organise the motif, and the negative space is engineered to give the eye somewhere to rest. The composition was drawn over months before any production began, with the proportions tested at quarter-scale samples and the colour values calibrated against natural and artificial light.
The fibre
The fibre is heat-set polypropylene. Colour is bonded into the polymer by heat, not painted on, so the saturation holds against UV and against household cleaners both. Spills sit on the surface long enough to be lifted with a damp cloth, and the pile recovers from compression marks from furniture without the lengthy memory that wool retains. The yarn is engineered for households with children, pets, and frequent foot traffic.
The composition
At room scale the beige carries the field as a single colour event. Up close the design vocabulary resolves into the motifs the studio drew from. Best with restrained upholstery, mid-tone walls, and warm wood floors that let the colour register breathe. The piece is engineered to set a quiet ground for the rest of the room rather than to compete with it.
The piece in a room
4'1" x 7' (124 × 213 cm) is the working scale for living rooms in flats, dining areas under a six-seater table, and primary bedrooms. The beige register reads at distance and rewards a closer look. The piece anchors a small living group with the front legs of the sofa on the field and the side chairs floating, or covers the floor under a queen bed with a hand-span of margin past the frame.
Care
Weekly vacuuming and spot cleaning with mild detergent handle ordinary use. Heat-set polypropylene tolerates a domestic 30°C wash if the size folds to fit the drum, and the rug dries flat overnight without needing professional intervention. Rotate a quarter turn each season so foot traffic and direct sun age the surface evenly across the field.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
