Rugsville Rayna Ivory Graphic Modern Carpet 4'5" x 6'7"

This is a contemporary reading of the modern minimalist format. The studio that drew the cartoon spent six months on the proportions of the field before any colour was sampled.

The cartoon was rendered to full size before any production yarn was sampled. The studio compared each colour against natural daylight, halogen, and warm LED before signing off, because a rug that reads beautifully under one light source can collapse under another.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene. The yarn is engineered so the colour is locked in by temperature rather than by surface dye, which is why the saturation does not fade under direct sun the way pigment-printed fibre fades. The pile resists staining at the molecular level: spilled wine, juice, oil, and coffee lift with a damp cloth before they can set. The pile stays flat under furniture and does not shed. The construction is jacquard-woven on a wide loom in Turkey, where the yarn industry has been refining heat-set fibre for over thirty years. The result is a rug that carries the visual weight of a wool tier without the upkeep, and that sits well in households with children, pets, and the kind of foot traffic that wool would not survive.

The composition

The palette runs through ivory and warm cream, separated by lighter channels of negative space that give the pattern room to read. The asymmetry of the drawing means the eye moves across the field rather than landing in one place. The piece pairs with walnut, brass, leather, linen, raw oak, and warm wood floors.

The piece in a room

4'5" × 6'7" (135 × 201 cm) suits a sitting area in a flat, the foot of a bed, or a study. The colour and the pattern are built to register at this size without crowding the room. The ivory ground accepts a pair of armchairs and a small table, or a single armchair with a reading lamp, without losing its graphic identity to the furniture above it.

Care

Vacuum weekly with a regular upright. Spot clean with mild detergent on a clean cloth. For a stubborn spill, a cold 30°C machine wash returns the rug to its original state without affecting the pile or the colour. The size folds to fit a domestic drum where applicable; larger pieces should be cold-rinsed in place with a hose. Air dry flat in two to four hours. No professional cleaning required in normal household use.
