Contemporary studio drawing for carpet leans on mid-century Scandinavian geometry, Bauhaus ground-figure logic, and the painterly grounds of post-war abstraction. The studio worked the design through several drafts before approving it for production, treating the loom as a printing press for textile rather than as a substitute for handwork. The result is a rug whose value sits in the drawing rather than in the hours of labour, and whose price reflects the discipline of process rather than the scarcity of material.
The composition
A multicolour field worked at room scale, with the drawing weighted to read across the floor rather than to pull the eye to a single point. The colour is locked in at the loom rather than printed on top, which is why it holds against light and traffic without the dulling that surface treatment shows after a few seasons. Density runs around 600,000 to 800,000 points per square metre, fine enough to hold the multicolour drawing in detail without losing the flat, contemporary surface that defines the idiom.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. Engineered for the realities of a working household: spillable, vacuumable, washable, and stable in colour through years of light. The fibre does not shed.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
