The modern carpet idiom emerged after the Second World War, when designers began treating the rug as a graphic plane rather than as a decorative repeat. Open ground, considered line, restrained palette. The brief was to produce a graphic surface that holds at any distance and survives the realities of a working household. The drawing was developed against contemporary interior architecture rather than against historical reference, with proportions calibrated for rooms in which the rug shares space with painted walls and visible joinery.
The composition
A multicolour field worked at room scale, with the drawing weighted to read across the floor rather than to pull the eye to a single point. The colour is locked in at the loom rather than printed on top, which is why it holds against light and traffic without the dulling that surface treatment shows after a few seasons. The pattern is jacquard-woven, which means each yarn is placed by the machine according to a digital cartoon. The drawing reads cleanly at every distance.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. Engineered for the realities of a working household: spillable, vacuumable, washable, and stable in colour through years of light. The fibre does not shed.
The piece in a room

Care
A weekly vacuum is enough. Use mild detergent and a damp cloth on spills. The rug is washable at 30 °C if needed and dries within a few hours laid flat. The fibre does not shed, the colour does not fade, and the pile recovers from furniture compression overnight.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
