The Persian floral idiom is one of the longest continuous design traditions in textile history, refined in court workshops from the 1500s to the present. Vines, palmettes, and a field organised around a central medallion. The studio worked the design through several drafts before approving it for production, treating the loom as a printing press for textile rather than as a substitute for handwork. The result is a rug whose value sits in the drawing rather than in the hours of labour, and whose price reflects the discipline of process rather than the scarcity of material.
The composition
Blue ground with the pattern integrated at the loom. Colour is locked into the fibre rather than printed on top, which is why it holds against light and traffic. The colour is locked in at the loom rather than printed on top, which is why it holds against light and traffic without the dulling that surface treatment shows after a few seasons. The drawing was developed against contemporary architectural references. The proportion of motif to ground is sized for rooms with low furniture and visible wall colour, not period interiors.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. Stain-resistant at the molecular level, so spilled wine, juice, oil, or coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set. The yarn is engineered to keep its colour under direct sunlight and to hold flat under furniture without crushing or shedding.
The piece in a room
5'3" × 7'4" (160 × 224 cm) is the working scale for a primary bedroom, a flat-scale living area, or a dining setting for four to six. The blue drawing pairs with walnut, oak, brass, leather, and linen, and holds at a distance while rewarding close looking. The flat weight sits cleanly under low furniture and through doorways without bunching. Place a felted underlay underneath to keep the rug stable on smooth floors and to dampen acoustic reflection. The piece holds shape and colour under direct sunlight, which makes it suitable for rooms where wool would fade.
Care
Vacuum weekly. Spot clean with mild detergent on a clean cloth. The piece can be machine washed at 30 °C if a spill resists spot cleaning, and dries flat in two hours. No professional cleaning required for the life of the rug. Storage between seasons is straightforward, rolled rather than folded.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
