The studio drawing for this piece was redone three times before it went to the loom. Each version softened a corner, opened a margin, eased the relationship between figure and ground. What looks effortless on the floor took the longer journey to get there. The drawing is what separates a tufted carpet that carries a room from a tufted carpet that fills it.
A pair of tufters worked this rug for four to five weeks in India, a finisher took it through the shearing and binding stage. Wool over cotton canvas, latex-bonded, scrim-backed in the conventional way for tufted carpets. The binding tape on the perimeter was applied last, by hand, so the edges sit flat against the floor without curling.
The composition
Navy carries the field. The shearing relieves the secondary tones above the ground by a couple of millimetres, which is what makes the design read at room scale rather than dissolving into noise. Undyed wool gains contrast over the years rather than dulling. The piece reads cleanly under both warm and cool lighting; the wool itself is the source of the depth, not a printed surface treatment.
The piece in a room
6' x 9' (183 × 274 cm) anchors a primary bedroom, a small living room, or a dining set for four to six. The size carries a sofa, two side chairs, and a coffee table comfortably with the rug visible at the perimeter of the furniture. Pairs cleanly with walnut, oak, brushed brass and unbleached linen. The rug answers a quieter room with restraint and absorbs more decorated furniture without surrendering the floor to it.
Care
Run a vacuum across the pile each week on suction only. Spot-clean spills with cotton and a mild detergent diluted in water. The rug will shed loose fibre for the first month or two of use; this is normal for hand-tufted construction. Send for a professional wool dry clean every two to three years. Avoid soaking the latex back; surface moisture only.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
