Persian carpet design ran on a continuous workshop tradition from at least the sixteenth century, the formal vocabulary settled by court ateliers and circulated by drawing through the village looms of the next four centuries. This rug works the neutral side of that historical palette.
The piece comes out of a contemporary studio practice that draws on the long workshop conversation between Turkish and Indian carpet design and the post-war Scandinavian and central-European abstraction that pulled this vocabulary into the modernist interior. The colour relationships were tested across multiple proofs to confirm that the beige would hold its weight against both warm and cool ambient light. The piece reads consistently in north-facing rooms and in rooms lit by warm incandescent at evening.
The fibre
The pile is engineered polypropylene, the colour locked in by heat-setting during yarn extrusion. The fibre does not absorb stains, does not crush under furniture legs, and does not fade in sunlight the way pigment-treated wool gradually does. The piece is built to absorb the kinds of incidents a hand-knotted rug cannot, in the rooms a hand-knotted rug should not be put. The design language carries through; the maintenance demands do not.
The composition
The palette runs through beige, the field opening to negative space at the borders so the design breathes against the floor. The geometry holds at room distance and reveals the pattern logic only on approach. The colour family stays steady through changing daylight; heat-set yarn does not carry the directional shading that makes a wool pile read warmer or cooler from different angles.
The piece in a room
5'2" × 7'7" (157 × 231 cm) suits a hallway, a study, a sitting area in a larger flat, or a dining footprint. The beige answers both painted and exposed brick walls, and the heat-set fibre absorbs the chair-leg movement under a dining table without crushing.
Care
Vacuum as routine. Spot clean immediately with water and mild soap. Heat-set fibre does not require professional cleaning at any point in normal household use, and the piece tolerates a cold machine cycle for incidents that resist spot work.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
