The Persian school of carpet design balanced floral and geometric vocabularies in a way no other regional tradition has matched, the medallion-and-corner-spandrel layout the most copied template in the form's history. The piece in front of you carries that vocabulary into a neutral register.
The piece comes out of a contemporary studio practice that draws on the long workshop conversation between Turkish and Indian carpet design and the post-war Scandinavian and central-European abstraction that pulled this vocabulary into the modernist interior. The colour relationships were tested across multiple proofs to confirm that the blue would hold its weight against both warm and cool ambient light. The piece reads consistently in north-facing rooms and in rooms lit by warm incandescent at evening.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. The yarn carries colour set by temperature rather than by surface dye, the saturation locked at the molecular level so direct sunlight does not bleach the field the way pigment-printed fibre fades. Spilled wine, juice, oil, or coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set. The pile holds shape under furniture without crushing. The construction sits at a price and care point that suits the rooms in a household where life happens at velocity. The design quality matches the wool tier; the maintenance contract does not.
The composition
A field of blue cut by lighter channels of negative space. The pattern is not a repeat tile but a single composed surface, the densities tightening at the centre and opening at the edges so the eye reads the rug as one considered object. Pairs cleanly with walnut, brass, leather, and warm timber.
The piece in a room
5'3" × 7'9" (160 × 236 cm) suits a hallway, a study, a sitting area in a larger flat, or a dining footprint. The blue answers both painted and exposed brick walls, and the heat-set fibre absorbs the chair-leg movement under a dining table without crushing.
Care
Weekly vacuum, beater bar on or off. Spot clean with detergent and water. The fibre does not absorb stains; surface treatment lifts most household incidents. A cold machine wash handles the rest.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
