The pattern in this rug grew out of contemporary Caucasian and Persian design rooms working in conversation with mid-century European geometry. The studio worked the ivory ground through several iterations before it was committed to the looms. The drawing was developed across several rounds of paper and colour studies before the looms were set, and the result is a piece that reads with a studio's deliberate hand rather than with the flatness of a stock catalogue print.
The construction is engineered for households that want the look of a heritage rug without the conservation calendar of a wool tier. The colour is locked in at the fibre level, the surface tolerates daily traffic, and the rug answers ordinary household care without ceremony.
The composition
A ivory field with the densities easing across the surface. The drawing was held back deliberately; nothing in it has to compete for attention. Sits comfortably under contemporary furniture, mid-century pieces, and most of what stands between them. The asymmetry of the composition keeps the rug from reading as a tile, which is the trap a poorly drawn jacquard often falls into.
The fibre
The yarn is heat-set polypropylene engineered so that colour and fibre are bonded at the molecular level. The pile resists fading under sun, lifts stains cleanly, and keeps its loft under chair and table legs without crushing.
The piece in a room
5'3" x 7'9" (160 × 236 cm) anchors a primary bedroom, a small living room, or a dining set for four to six. The size carries a sofa, two side chairs, and a coffee table comfortably with the rug visible at the perimeter of the furniture. Pairs with both contemporary upholstery and older leather without forcing a register. Care
Vacuum weekly. Spot clean with cool water and a mild detergent. Heat-set fibre lifts most household spills with a damp cloth before they soak in. Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
