The abstract pattern in this rug grew out of contemporary studios working in conversation with classical Persian and Anatolian sources. The drawing was redrawn at scale, the colour register tuned, and the field set to read as one considered composition rather than a repeating tile. The studio worked through several iterations in chalk and ink before the cartoon was approved for the loom, with the proportions adjusted at each pass.
The abstract drawing here moves through several sources before it settles. The studio looked to historical Anatolian and Persian carpets for proportion, to mid-century Scandinavian textile design for restraint, and to contemporary architectural practice for the relationship between figure and ground. The result is a multi composition that holds in a contemporary interior without losing the feel of a textile with roots.
The fibre
The fibre is heat-set polypropylene. Colour is set in the yarn at the spinning stage and runs the full length of the strand, not just on the surface, which is why sun does not bleach it. The yarn rejects water-borne staining; spills sit on the surface and lift with a cloth. The pile does not shed, and the rug requires no professional cleaning across its working life.
The composition
Multi grounds the surface. Abstract drawing organises the field. The rug holds a composition without forcing a focal point, which is what most rooms ask of a floor covering when the rest of the space is already pulling in different directions. The colour and figure work together rather than fighting each other for attention.
The piece in a room
At 5'3" x 7'8" (160 x 234 cm), the rug fits a flat-scale living room or a generous bedroom. Multi pairs comfortably with most upholstery palettes, and the polypropylene pile takes daily traffic without showing it. Carries the room's palette on its own. The rest of the space should sit quietly around it.
Care
Weekly vacuum. Damp-cloth on any spill. The pile takes a cold hand or machine wash without losing colour. Dries flat in a couple of hours. No specialist care needed; the construction is designed to handle daily use in a household with pets, children, and direct light.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
