The ivory palette here was developed alongside a abstract drawing, both refined together rather than pulled from separate libraries. The result reads as one composition rather than as a pattern dropped onto a colour. The discipline of designing colour and figure together is what separates a serious studio rug from an off-the-rack production.
What sits on the loom is the result of months of preparation. The ivory palette was tested against actual furniture and walls before approval; the abstract drawing was scaled and re-scaled so the figure works at sofa distance and at door distance equally well. The production loom carries the design with the discipline that hand-knotting cannot match for repeatability and price.
The fibre
The fibre is heat-set polypropylene. Colour is set in the yarn at the spinning stage and runs the full length of the strand, not just on the surface, which is why sun does not bleach it. The yarn rejects water-borne staining; spills sit on the surface and lift with a cloth. The pile does not shed, and the rug requires no professional cleaning across its working life.
The composition
Ivory grounds the surface. Abstract drawing organises the field. The rug holds a composition without forcing a focal point, which is what most rooms ask of a floor covering when the rest of the space is already pulling in different directions. The colour and figure work together rather than fighting each other for attention.
The piece in a room
Sized at 5'3" x 7'10" (160 x 239 cm), the rug works under a sofa cluster, a dining table for four to six, or as a bedroom anchor. The pile is graded for traffic and the fibre for spills. Mid-tone walls hold the saturation; lighter walls let the rug recede into the room.
Care
Vacuum weekly. Spot clean with mild detergent. The fibre permits a cold cycle in a domestic washer if a spill goes deeper than the surface. Dries flat in two hours. No conservator required; the rug is built to be lived on rather than looked after.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
