The Anatolian tribal motif comes out of a long line of village weavings where geometry was a way of recording family, tribe, and seasonal time. Lifted out of that context and worked at room scale, the same drawing functions as a piece of contemporary graphic art. The grid is steady enough to read across distance and irregular enough to hold attention close up.
This carpet was hand-tufted in India over around 3 weeks by 1 tufter and a finisher. Wool was pushed through a stretched cotton canvas one row at a time with a tufting gun, then sealed at the back with natural latex and a cotton scrim. The final pass was done by hand with long shears, cutting the pile down so the pattern reads in relief at room scale rather than dissolving into a flat surface.
The composition
The palette is built around charcoal, graphite, and bone. The wool sits with a slight sheen because the pile is cut rather than looped, and the colour shifts a half tone as the carpet is walked around. Light from a low window in the early evening pulls warm notes forward; an overhead fixture flattens the same surface into a single field. The drawing reads cleanly at six paces and reveals texture at one. The contrast between cut pile and the lower-cut motif lines gives the surface a quiet relief that a flat-pile alternative cannot produce. The longer the carpet stays in a room, the more the ground reads as a settled tonal field rather than as a graphic insert.
What you are buying
Hand-tufted construction is the working middle of the wool floor world. It carries the same fibre, the same dye, and the same hand-drawn pattern as a hand-knotted carpet at a fraction of the loom time. The trade-off is structural rather than aesthetic. The face shows the pattern at the same resolution as a knotted equivalent, but the back is bonded rather than woven, which means the piece is replaced rather than restored at the end of its life. For most rooms in most homes, that is the right calculus.
The piece in a room
At 5'3" x 7'6" (160 x 229 cm), the carpet anchors a primary bedroom or a medium living area. It pairs with walnut floors, oak floors, and white-washed concrete in equal measure. Curved upholstery softens the geometry; rectilinear furniture sharpens it.
Care
Vacuum weekly with the beater bar disengaged. Blot spills with a clean cotton cloth working from the edge inward, never rubbing. Light shedding is normal in the first six weeks of use as loose fibres work themselves out of the pile; the body of the carpet is unaffected. A professional dry clean every two to three years keeps the colour clear and the pile open. Use a felt or rubber underlay to protect both the latex backing and the floor below.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
