Anatolian tribal weaving is built around the medallion, the vine, and the dot, and the colour vocabulary that came out of the Lake Van and Konya regions has shaped Western drawing rooms since the seventeenth century. The Anati10 reading of that lineage shifts the saturation toward soft pastel and rests a classical medallion on a calm field of sky and sea blue. The 9'9" x 12'6" (297 x 381 cm) scale is true drawing-room work.
This rug was hand-tufted in India over eight weeks by two tufters and a finisher. Wool was punched through a stretched cotton canvas in graduated rows, the medallion laid first and the field worked outward to keep the silhouette clean. The back was sealed with natural latex and a cotton scrim, then carved by hand with long shears so the central medallion sits a fraction proud of the ground. The pile was washed twice after the carving and sun-dried flat.
The composition
A blue field carries a softened medallion in pale rose, ivory, and walnut, framed by an ornamental border of vine and dot motifs. The palette is pastel rather than tribal-saturated, and the medallion reads as a quiet architectural centre rather than as a busy emblem. The blue itself shifts between sky and sea under different light, the wool taking the dye unevenly enough to read as textile rather than print. The composition holds at the scale of a 12-foot room.
The piece in a room
9'9" x 12'6" (297 x 381 cm) is the canonical drawing-room scale, the right size for a ten-seat dining table, a long sectional, or a primary bedroom with a king platform. The blue ground reads cool against warm walnut and brass and pairs well with both linen upholstery and bouclé. The rug expects to be the work the room is arranged around rather than flooring underneath the furniture.
Care
Vacuum weekly with the beater bar disengaged. Every hand-tufted rug loses a small quantity of fibre to a beater bar regardless of price. Blot spills with a clean cotton cloth and never rub at the pile. Expect light shedding for the first eight weeks of use. A professional dry clean every three years lifts settled dust and refreshes the dye.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
