Rugsville Akay Transitional Green Designer Persian Carpet 5'3" x 7'5"

The pattern in this rug grew out of the studio dialogue between Persian medallion tradition and contemporary transitional palettes. A central medallion in muted green, soft ivory ground, and faded coral border work, drawn so that the classical structure reads as quieter than the original Sarouks and Tabriz pieces it descends from. The studio worked the cartoon for several months before approving it for production, easing the saturation of every colour by a stop so the rug would sit inside a modern interior rather than period it.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene. The yarn is engineered so the colour is sealed into the fibre by temperature rather than printed onto the surface, which means the rug holds its saturation under direct daylight where pigment-printed alternatives bleach inside two seasons. The pile resists staining at the molecular level: red wine, juice, coffee, and oil sit on the surface long enough to be lifted with a damp cloth before they bond. The rug does not shed.

The composition

A faded green medallion floats inside an open ivory field, framed by a band of coral and walnut floral work. The drawing is loose, intentionally washed, with the look of a hundred-year-old Persian rug whose colours have softened in sun. The pattern reads as antique without trying to forge antique. Pairs with linen, oak, brass, leather in cognac or chestnut, and walls in soft chalk or warm taupe.

The piece in a room

5'3" x 7'5" (160 x 226 cm) is the right scale for a primary bedroom under the foot of a queen bed, a study with a single armchair and a writing desk, or a small reception room where the rug grounds a two-seat sofa and a low coffee table. The transitional palette gives a room a sense of layered ageing without committing to a period look.

Care

Vacuum weekly. Spot clean with a mild detergent on a clean cloth. The synthetic pile lifts spills before they set, so prompt blotting handles most household accidents. Machine wash on a cold cycle if a stain resists; the size folds to fit a domestic drum. Dries flat in three hours. No professional cleaning required.
