Description / Rugsville Terza Contemporary Multi Stripes Handmade Wool Carpet 6' x 6'
Studio drawing for hand-finished carpets sits between historical reference and contemporary architecture. The pattern in front of you reflects that conversation. The hand-tufted technique was developed in the second half of the twentieth century as a way to produce dense, painterly carpets without the time horizon of hand-knotting. The form has been refined for fifty years and now sits comfortably alongside the older tradition.
Hand-tufted in India by a small team of three across 4 weeks. Wool pile, latex-bonded back, cotton scrim, and hand-shorn relief on the front face. Edges hand-bound, fringe omitted to keep the rug reading as a contemporary surface rather than a traditional knotted weave.
The composition
The multicolour field is dense and even. Carved relief lifts the drawing off the ground by two to three millimetres, holding the pattern at any distance. The yarn is wool, dense enough to walk on barefoot and resilient enough to hold its hand under furniture for years. The multicolour ground is even, dyed before tufting so the colour reads through the depth of the pile rather than only at the surface.
The piece in a room
size as listed works under a working living room, a generous bedroom, or a smaller dining setting. The multicolour colour pairs with both warm and cool wood floors, with leather and linen upholstery, and with painted walls that lean toward chalk rather than gloss. The drawing pairs cleanly with mid-tone walls in clay, putty, or oat. Architecture in stone or wood lets the rug carry the colour. Position the rug so a clear band of the multicolour field shows between the edge of the carpet and the skirting. The piece is composed, not fitted.
Care
Vacuum weekly, suction only. Blot any liquid immediately. Light shedding through the first six weeks of use is normal as loose fibre works free of the pile. Schedule a professional dry-clean every two to three years.

Auspicious Placement
Vastu Guidance
Traditional Vastu Shastra recommendations for placing this carpet in your home. Choose based on the room and the corner you wish to ground.
Recommended direction: South-west (stability), or under the seating in the West / North-west.
Earth-tone carpets (red, ochre, terracotta, brown) in the South-west bring stability and grounding energy. Avoid covering the central Brahmasthan (centre) of the room; leave a small bare floor space.
Recommended direction: South-west or West side of the bed.
Soft pastels (cream, dusty rose, sage, blue-grey) work well in bedrooms for restful energy. Avoid bright reds at the head of the bed. Place the carpet so it extends 18–24 inches on each side of the bed.
Recommended direction: West or North-west zone.
Place carpet under the dining table such that all chairs sit on it when pulled out. Earth tones (terracotta, ochre, beige) and floral patterns are auspicious. Avoid black or dark blue under the dining area per Vastu.
Recommended direction: North-east corner of the home or the pooja room itself.
Auspicious colours: maroon, deep red, saffron, ivory, gold-yellow. Wool naturally resists fire risk near diya lamps. Use a small 2'×3' or 3'×5' size — larger carpets are not traditional in pooja spaces. Sit facing East or North while praying.
Recommended direction: Just inside the main door (East or North-facing entrance is ideal).
A small 3'×5' carpet at the entrance brings welcoming energy. Choose warm tones (red, ochre, gold). The carpet should be in good condition — frayed or stained welcome mats are considered inauspicious.
